Figolli Fund Raising at the Oratory

Two weeks before Easter our volunteers under the leadership of Mary Rose Bugeja started making the traditional ‘figolli’. We owe much to these ladies who although not so young, give up their time and come daily to make ‘figolli’. It is worth mentioning that the making of ‘figolli’ at the Oratory has been going on for the past 91 years. Judging from the many orders we receive and the praise we get for our ‘figolli’ we can assure our readers that they are the best. God bless our volunteers!

PreTeens and Juniors Hike

Saturday, 21st March, a very windy day with isolated showers, did not frighten 20 preteens led by Bro. Clive to set off for a hike. They walked from Sliema to Bahar-ic-Caghaq. Half way the weather got worse and they were thinking of turning back! But soon the sun came out and they could go on with their walk. On the way back they stopped at Pembroke and they had time for some games. Despite the wind and rain they really enjoyed the day.

Take Off - Figolli

Today the long process of creating Figolli (traditional Maltese Easter sweet) took off with 12 enthusiastic helpers preparing together the ingredients and utensils needed.

They will resume work this Sunday, 22nd March. More volunteers are needed. For more information contact the Salesian Community on 21331447

Figolli is a fundraiser event. This year, all the money collected will go towards installing a lift system for the Oratory Chapel.

Bikeathlon at Savio

A group of 26 members joined the Salesian Family in Dingli for a Bike hike and marathon walk on the 19th of March. The activity started with the bikes leaving at 9.00am from Savio College amongst the cheers of the crowd present. After a nice ride along the countryside of the Imgarr-Dingli area the activity finished off with the presentation of medals in the College grounds.
