Last Saturday 9th May witnessed the launch of a Formation programme for Parents of members attending the Salesian Oratory in Sliema. Around 50 parents attended this first meeting, led by Fr Eric Cachia sdb. A presentation and a series of discussion groups helped the people present refelect on the theme 'Communication with Youth'. Three phases of Don Bosco's life were presented as model to the audience. During the discussion a practical approach was proposedon how to apply the presented material in today's family scenario.


Presentation of Trophies

Saturday, 2nd May. The Annual Presentation of trophies was held at the Imperial Hotel in Sliema, for members and guests of the Youth Centre. This Gala Night is an important event on the Oratory’s calendar as it highlights certain characteristics and promotes particular values whichare central in our Salesian ethos. Besides the usual seven awards, another two were introduced this year. The special awards were:

Special Award for Joy and Optimism awarded to Angele Debono
Special Award for Initiative awarded to Edward Mifsud

Annual Family Picnic - Hike

The Family Picnic on the 1st of May has become an annual event. Early in the morning a group of parents gathered at the Youth Centre for the important ritual of preparing packed lunches consisting of ‘ftajjar’, potato chips, a chocolate and a bottle of water for the 80 ramblers who by 9 o’clock had assembled in front of St. Patrick’s School. A coach and a mini-bus dropped the group at the vicinity of Dar tal-Providenza (in the limits of Siggiewi). From there the group started walking towards the Chapel of San Niklaw.
