Holy Week at the Oratory

The Holy Week services were held as usual at the Oratory Chapel. Many people attend these services because they enjoy the atmosphere created by the well prepared services and the pageant presented by the youth of the Oratory.

This year’s theme was: ‘Ghax Habbek, Miet Ghalik’ (Because He Loved You, He died for you). The pageant was well prepared and it helped those present to enter into the spirit of the liturgy and helped them to get in touch with the experience Christ lived 2000 years ago.

The Youth Centre, where on ordinary days is full of noise and laughter, on Holy Thursday, turned into a place of silence and prayer. The Altar of Repose was prepared in the main hall. People making the visits of the seven churches are used to see an altar nicely decorated with candles and flowers, but on entering the Oratory they could see something really different. While it was something modern in structure it was very prayerful.

After the services of Thursday the members of the Oratory led by the Salesian Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade made their visits. At 10.00pm the youth had an hour’s adoration before the Blessed sacrament.

After the services of the Easter Vigil all were invited for some hot tea or coffee and cake while we wished each other a Happy Easter.
