Salesian Oratory - Sliema

Saturday, 2nd May. The Annual Presentation of trophies was held at the Imperial Hotel in Sliema, for members and guests of the Youth Centre. This Gala Night is an important event on the Oratory’s calendar as it highlights certain characteristics and promotes particular values whichare central in our Salesian ethos. Besides the usual seven awards, another two were introduced this year. The special awards were:

Special Award for Joy and Optimism awarded to Angele Debono
Special Award for Initiative awarded to Edward Mifsud
Special Award for Gratitude & Appreciation awarded to Luke Attard & Valerie Vella
Special Award for Most Promising Leader awarded to Jeanelle Bugeja & Maurizio Cortis
Special Award for Music Ministry awarded to Stefano Ellul
Sur Galea Award for Performing Arts awarded to Jeanine Balzan Engerer
SBGB Best Female Member awarded to Sara Zammit
SBGB Best Male Member awarded to Luke Micallef and the
Golden Award for Salesian Spirit was awarded to James Spiteri.

The event kicked off with a pasta night. Gianluca Maresca, president of the Youth Centre welcomed the gathering. Fr. Eric’s speech focused on the need to look ahead and to discern God’s will, thus leaving the possibility of God’s call to the Salesian life, open, the presentation of awards followed. Fr. Joe Forte on behalf of Fr. Paul Formosa, who was abroad attending the Provincials’ Meeting, presented the awards.The evening came to an end at about 1.00 am.
